<h3>Why No Female Plastic Surgeon in Singapore</h3>
<p>According to <a href="http://simply-aesthetic.blogspot.com/2008/12/desperately-seeking-female-plastic.html">Dr Cheng&#8217;s blog</a>, two sisters &#8220;had been desperately looking for a <strong>female cosmetic surgeon</strong> to help them get rid of their unwanted fat for years!&#8221;</p>
<p>It was surprising that even Google could not help them to locate some female plastic surgeons in Singapore. The closest female surgeon who could help them to remove unwanted fats was in Indonesia.</p>
<p>Maybe it&#8217;s because there are too few female doctors and even fewer female surgeons in Singapore.</p>
<p>Maybe MOH should get NUS to accept more women to study medicine.</p>
<h3>Men Fare Better Women in the Look-Good Industry</h3>
<p>Top fashion designers are men. Top makeup artists are men. Top plastic surgeons in Singapore are men e.g. <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.woffleswu.com">Wuffles Wu</a>, <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.plasticandhand.com.sg/surgeon/">Ivor Lim</a>,&#8230;</p>
<p>Also most women prefer male gynaecologists.</p>
<p>Even though there is demand for female plastic surgeons and female doctors, there are a lot more women prefer a man doctor or couldn&#8217;t care less if their doctors were men or women.</p>
<p><div align="center">
<script type="text/javascript"><!--

<p>I thought India would be the best place to look for <strong>Joomla designers</strong>. Isn&#8217;t India the IT outsource capital of the world?</p>
<p><!--adsense--></p>
<h3>Joomla Designers On Our Doorstep</h3>
<p>But&#8230; Joomla designers could be found much closer to Singapore than we thought.</p>
<p>According to Google Trends and if I interpreted correctly then the place to look for Joomla designers is <strong>Jakarta, Indonesia</strong>.</p>
<p>Take a look at the Google Trends below: Drupal vs Joomla</p>
<p><img src="http://myblogsg.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/google_trends_drupal_joomla.jpg" alt="Joomla vs Drupal Google Trends" width="450" height="520" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-174" /></p>
<p>From the chart, I deduce that the interest for Joomla and Joomla related searches in Indonesia is highest. Now, look at the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th positions, from what I gathered, these are places where you can get some the best programmers in world.</p>
<h3>Who Cares</h3>
<p>You see, the clients don&#8217;t care if you used Drupal or Joomla. The technology behind their sites is invisible to them. Those who really care are the designers and programmers. They are searching for hacks to their Joomla problems and how to write extensions to satisfy their clients requirements.</p>

<h3>Web Design Course That Delivers Online Marketing Results</h3>
<p>Terence Yap of BPI Technology Pte Ltd attended the <a href="http://www.finggle.com/seo-web-design-course/" target="_blank">SEO Web Design Course</a> on 6 October 2007. He implemented what he learned from the Web design course and completed his new SEO-friendly Web site in November 2007. Within 2 months, many of the targeted keywords were ranked in the first page of Google search results.</p>
<p>With prominent search engine visibility, the new site was generating targeted leads which eventually converted into sales and business expanded. Major MNC&#8217;s based in Singapore and around the region found the Web site via Google and BPI Technology had secured several contracts by March 2008.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Ever wonder what is the ideal Web page size for the mobile phones, smartphones, Internet tablets or ultraportable laptops? <span id="more-35"></span></p>
<p><!--adsense--></p>
<p><img class="alignright" src='http://myblogsg.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/iphone_s.gif' alt='iPhone' />Most mobile phones have screen resolution of 240 by 320 pixels. Smartphones give you bigger viewing area, in the case of <strong>iPhone</strong> the maximum resolution is 480 by 320 pixels. As for Internet tablet such as the <strong>Nokia N810</strong>, you&#8217;ll get a huge 800 by 480 pixels (screen 4.13&#8243;).</p>
<h3>Display Resolution For Mobile Internet Devices</h3>
<p>The 800 by 480 pixels may be the new standard for Mobile Internet Devices(<acronym title="Mobile Internet Device">MID</acronym>). It is interesting to note that the wildly popular <a href="http://myblogsg.com/asus-eee-pc">Eee PC</a> also has a 800 by 480 resolution, 7&#8243; screen.</p>
<p>I think the 800 by 480 pixel is a practical display size to view a web page. However, this resolution may not be possible on a 2&#8243; display of a mobile phone; though it will be nice to have a display with 480 by 320 resolution on all mobile phones.</p>
<h3>Making Your Web Page Mobile Device Friendly</h3>
<p>Currently, the most popular screen resolution on most computer is 1024 by 768 pixels. Very likely, your Web page is designed for this 1024 by 768 XGA standard.</p>
<p>More and more people will be accessing the Internet using their mobile devices. So you&#8217;ll have to make your Web page viewable on a smaller screen. But how small?</p>
<p>For your new Web pages to reach the increasing number of mobile users, keep the most important message on your Web page to the first 640 by 480.</p>
<div align="center">
<img src='http://myblogsg.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/web_design_mobile.jpg' alt='Web design for small screen' />
</div>
<p>You may want to divide your page into not more than 2 columns with the more important content on the left hand side &#8211; content on the left and navigation on the right. Your left column should be less than 480 pixels, preferably between 320 to 450 pixels.</p>

I hope IE 8 will have a HTML source viewer that can match Firefox and Safari.</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>Why Would You Want to View Source?</strong><br />
Viewing the source code of Web page is part and parcel of the Web design process. You can also learn how other people&#8217;s Web pages achieve certain effects by viewing their source codes.

<p><!--adsense--></p>
<h3>Changing IE7 View Source Editor</h3>
<p>So how do you change the Internet Explorer default source editor to your favorite text editor?</p>
<p>There are 2 ways:</p>
<p><strong>1. The Difficult Way</strong></p>
<p>Go to Thea Burgur Blog at</p>
<p><a href="http://dotnet.org.za/thea/archive/2004/11/25/7933.aspx">http://dotnet.org.za/thea/archive/2004/11/25/7933.aspx</a></p>
<p>You will have to tweak your Windows registry using <strong>regedit</strong>.</p>
<div align="center"><img src='http://myblogsg.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/regedit_001.jpg' alt='Start &gt; Run &gt; enter regedit' border="0" /></div>
<p>Then search for the following entry:</p>
<p>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE<br />
|_ Software<br />
|__ Microsoft<br />
|___ Internet Explorer<br />
|____ View Source Editor<br />
|_____ Editor Name (Default) = C:\WINDOWS\NOTEPAD.EXE</p>
<p>Edit and change the path to your external text editor e.g. C:\Program Files\Notepad2\notepad2.exe</p>
<p>If you are not familiar with using RegEdit, watch the following video.</p>
<div align="center">
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/b3uJc15qCXM&#038;fs=1" width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/b3uJc15qCXM&#038;fs=1" /><param name="FlashVars" value="playerMode=embedded"/><param name="wmode" value="transparent"/></object><br />
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3uJc15qCXM" target="_blank">Video: How to Change IE Source View Editor</a>
</div>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>2. The Easy Way</strong></p>
<p>Go download a copy for the free <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.iconico.com/viewSourceEditor/" target="_blank">View Source Editor</a>. Run the program and enter the path to your favorite text editor.</p>
<div align="center"><img src='http://myblogsg.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/view_source_editor_001.jpg' alt='View Source Editor' border="0" /></div>
<p>My favorite text editor is <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.pspad.com/en/" target="_blank">PSPad</a>, a freeware programmer&#8217;s editor. However, you may like to try a smaller text editor which loads quickly&#8230; I recommend you to use <strong>Notepad2</strong>.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Read an email from Sitepoint about using the not so popular CSS table command to create multi-column Web design. <span id="more-30"></span>The reason why it&#8217;s not popular with CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) designers because Microsoft Internet Explorer does not support this table layout command. But this is going to change. IE 8 will be more compliance with industry standards and will support the CSS table layout command.</p>
<p><!--adsense--></p>
<p>With CSS table, you can create table layout as simply as HTML table-based layout. Here&#8217;s a sample CSS codes to display a 3-column Web design.</p>
<pre>
#body {
  border-collapse: collapse;
  display: table;
  table-layout: fixed;
  }
#navigation, #content, #sidebar {
  display: table-cell;
  }
#navigation {
  width: 200px;
  }
#content {
  width: 66%;
  }
#sidebar {
  width: 33%;
  }
</pre>
<p>And the Web page looks like this in Safari Web browser:</p>
<div align="center">
<img src='http://myblogsg.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/bookmark_widget.js.txt2008/02/css_table_001.jpg' alt='css_table_001.jpg' border="0" />
</div>
<p>You can visit Sitepoint to view the actual source codes at this URL:</p>
<p><a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.sitepoint.com/examples/3col.html" target="_blank">http://www.sitepoint.com/examples/3col.html</a></p>
<p>Note that this &#8220;live&#8221; Web page contain <em>IE 7 hack</em> CSS codes to work around the restrictions of IE 7 and earlier versions.</p>
<pre>
<!--[if lte IE 7]&gt;-->
#body {
  overflow: visible;
  width: 100%;
  }
#navigation {
  border-bottom-width: 1px;
  border-right-width: 0;
  margin-bottom: 1em;
  width: auto;
  }
<img class="alignright" src="http://www.sitepoint.com/images/books/cssref1/cssref1.jpg" alt="The Ultimate CSS Reference" />
#navigation h2 {
  margin: 0;
  }
#navigation ul {
  margin: 0;
  text-align: center;
  }
#navigation li {
  display: inline;
  margin: 0 0.5em;
  }
#content {
  float: left;
  width: 60%;
  }
#sidebar  {
  float: left;
  width: 30%;
  }
</pre>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>After a couple hours of hacking with JavaScript, I finally created my very first SEO-friendly <strong>social bookmarking widget</strong> specially for this blog. <span id="more-29"></span>As you can see, I&#8217;ve positioned the bookmark widget right at the top of the post to get the most attention and clicks.</p>
<div align="center"><img src='http://myblogsg.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/social_bookmarking_widget_001.jpg' alt='Social Bookmarking Widget' border="0"></div>
<p>The widget is constructed with JavaScript. It is a very simple script which I modified from &#8220;<a href="http://gathadams.com/2007/04/22/build-your-own-social-bookmark-widget/" target="_blank">Build Your Own Social Bookmark Widget</a>&#8221; by Gath Adams.</p>
<pre>
// JavaScript - bookmarking_widget.js
var theTitle = encodeURIComponent(document.title)
var theURL = encodeURIComponent(document.location)
document.write('&lt;style type="text/css"&gt;
  .bookmark_widget{margin:15px 0 10px;font-size:12px;
  font-family:arial,verdana,san serif}
  .bookmark_widget a{font-weight:normal;margin-left:5px}
  &lt;/style&gt;')
document.write('&lt;div class="bookmark_widget"&gt;')
document.write('&lt;a href="http://del.icio.us/post?url='
  +theURL+'&amp;title='+theTitle+'"
  title="See who bookmarked at del.icio.us" &gt;
  &lt;img src="http://images.del.icio.us/static/img/
  delicious.gif" alt=" " height="16" width="16"
  border="0" /&gt;&amp;nbsp;del.icio.us&lt;/a&gt; ')
document.write('&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/
  faves/?add='+theURL+'" title="Favorite it at
  Technorati" &gt;
  &lt;img src="http://static.technorati.com/x/static/
  images/buttons/fave.png" alt=" " height="13"
  width="18" border="0" /&gt;&amp;nbsp;fave it&lt;/a&gt; ')
document.write('&lt;a href="http://reddit.com/submit?url='
  +theURL+'&amp;title='+theTitle+'") title="Add To
  Reddit"&gt;&lt;img src="http://sp.reddit.com/
  reddithead4.gif" alt="Reddit" height="16" width="16"
  border="0" /&gt;&amp;nbsp;reddit&lt;/a&gt;')
document.write('&lt;a href="

<a href="http://www.stumbleupon.com/submit?url=" rel="nofollow">http://www.stumbleupon.com/submit?url=</a>'+theURL+

  '&amp;title='+theTitle+'") title="StumbleUpon - I like
  it"&gt;&lt;img src="http://www.stumbleupon.com/
  images/icon_su.gif" alt=" " height="16" width="16"
  border="0" /&gt;&amp;nbsp;StumbleUpon&lt;/a&gt;')
document.write("&lt;/div&gt;")
</pre>
<p>And I modified the file single.php of the Prologue theme.</p>
<pre>
&lt;div id="widget_digg"&gt;
  &lt;script type="text/javascript"
  src="http://digg.com/tools/diggthis.js"&gt;&lt;/script&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;script type="text/javascript"
  src="&lt;?php bloginfo('template_url'); ?&gt;
  /bookmark_widget.js"&gt;&lt;/script&gt;
&lt;?php the_content( __( '[More...]' ) ); ?&gt;
</pre>
<p>From the source codes above, you can see that I placed the bookmarking widget after the <a href="http://myblogsg.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/26/digg-this-submit-button/">Digg It Submit Button</a>. I think this layout looks pretty neat.</p>
<p>Beside adding the social bookmarking widget at this blog, I also installed it at <a href="http://shihengcheong.com/blog/" target="_blank">http://shihengcheong.com/blog/</a> and <a href="http://www.timmguru.com" target="_blank">http://www.timmguru.com</a>. As I have a wider column in both of these blogs, I was able to squeeze in a few more <em>social bookmarking sites</em>: Furl, Reddit and also friendfeed.</p>
<div align="center"><img src='http://myblogsg.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/social_bookmarking_widget_002.jpg' alt='Social bookmarking widget plus' border="0" /></div>
<p><a rel="nofollow" href="http://myblogsg.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/bookmark_widget.js.txt" target="_blank">Click here to download bookmark_widget.js.txt</a><br />
(You will need to rename the file and remove .txt)</p>
<h3>&#8220;But I don&#8217;t know JavaScript&#8221;</h3>
<p><img class="alignleft" src="http://sharethis.com/images/share-icon-32x32.png" alt="Share This" />If you are not familiar with JavaScript or just don&#8217;t like to DIY, then you can try using <a href="http://sharethis.com/wordpress" target="_blank">Share This Wordpress Plugin</a> instead.</p>]]></content:encoded>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As far as Web design is concerned, I have encountered heaps of cross browser compatibility issues with many of the local sites, especially with a couple of the local Internet banking portals which can only function properly with Internet Explorer. <span id="more-21"></span> And 99.99% of these broken Web sites are powered by ASP.NET.</p>
<p>Why didn&#8217;t the Web masters or Web developers tested the Web design with other popular Web browsers such as Firefox, Opera or Safari.</p>
<p>But, you know what, I have yet to encounter any problem lately with Microsoft&#8217;s owned sites using Firefox. I think I was lucky, unlike this poor guy in the video below&#8230;</p>
