Why No Female Plastic Surgeon in Singapore

According to Dr Cheng’s blog, two sisters “had been desperately looking for a female cosmetic surgeon to help them get rid of their unwanted fat for years!”

It was surprising that even Google could not help them to locate some female plastic surgeons in Singapore. The closest female surgeon who could help them to remove unwanted fats was in Indonesia.

Maybe it’s because there are too few female doctors and even fewer female surgeons in Singapore.

Maybe MOH should get NUS to accept more women to study medicine.

Men Fare Better Women in the Look-Good Industry

Top fashion designers are men. Top makeup artists are men. Top plastic surgeons in Singapore are men e.g. Wuffles Wu, Ivor Lim,…

Also most women prefer male gynaecologists.

Even though there is demand for female plastic surgeons and female doctors, there are a lot more women prefer a man doctor or couldn’t care less if their doctors were men or women.

Joomla Designers On Our Doorstep

But… Joomla designers could be found much closer to Singapore than we thought.

According to Google Trends and if I interpreted correctly then the place to look for Joomla designers is Jakarta, Indonesia.

From the chart, I deduce that the interest for Joomla and Joomla related searches in Indonesia is highest. Now, look at the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th positions, from what I gathered, these are places where you can get some the best programmers in world.

Who Cares

You see, the clients don’t care if you used Drupal or Joomla. The technology behind their sites is invisible to them. Those who really care are the designers and programmers. They are searching for hacks to their Joomla problems and how to write extensions to satisfy their clients requirements.

Sitemaps Example

Sitemaps are constructed using XML. This is not the same as HTML. XML is designed to handle data for Web site whereas HTML is for display dynamic content.

Most mobile phones have screen resolution of 240 by 320 pixels. Smartphones give you bigger viewing area, in the case of iPhone the maximum resolution is 480 by 320 pixels. As for Internet tablet such as the Nokia N810, you’ll get a huge 800 by 480 pixels (screen 4.13″).

Display Resolution For Mobile Internet Devices

The 800 by 480 pixels may be the new standard for Mobile Internet Devices(MID). It is interesting to note that the wildly popular Eee PC also has a 800 by 480 resolution, 7″ screen.

I think the 800 by 480 pixel is a practical display size to view a web page. However, this resolution may not be possible on a 2″ display of a mobile phone; though it will be nice to have a display with 480 by 320 resolution on all mobile phones.

Making Your Web Page Mobile Device Friendly

Currently, the most popular screen resolution on most computer is 1024 by 768 pixels. Very likely, your Web page is designed for this 1024 by 768 XGA standard.

More and more people will be accessing the Internet using their mobile devices. So you’ll have to make your Web page viewable on a smaller screen. But how small?

For your new Web pages to reach the increasing number of mobile users, keep the most important message on your Web page to the first 640 by 480.

You may want to divide your page into not more than 2 columns with the more important content on the left hand side – content on the left and navigation on the right. Your left column should be less than 480 pixels, preferably between 320 to 450 pixels.

Why Would You Want to View Source?
Viewing the source code of Web page is part and parcel of the Web design process. You can also learn how other people’s Web pages achieve certain effects by viewing their source codes.

Changing IE7 View Source Editor

So how do you change the Internet Explorer default source editor to your favorite text editor?

There are 2 ways:

1. The Difficult Way

Go to Thea Burgur Blog at

You will have to tweak your Windows registry using regedit.

Then search for the following entry:

Edit and change the path to your external text editor e.g. C:\Program Files\Notepad2\notepad2.exe

2. The Easy Way

Go download a copy for the free View Source Editor. Run the program and enter the path to your favorite text editor.

My favorite text editor is PSPad, a freeware programmer’s editor. However, you may like to try a smaller text editor which loads quickly… I recommend you to use Notepad2.

Notepad2 – A Microsoft Notepad Replacement

Notepad2 is small, light-weight and fast text editor which is more powerful than the default Microsoft notepad.exe.

From the source codes above, you can see that I placed the bookmarking widget after the Digg It Submit Button. I think this layout looks pretty neat.

Beside adding the social bookmarking widget at this blog, I also installed it at http://shihengcheong.com/blog/ and http://www.timmguru.com. As I have a wider column in both of these blogs, I was able to squeeze in a few more social bookmarking sites: Furl, Reddit and also friendfeed.

“But I don’t know JavaScript”

If you are not familiar with JavaScript or just don’t like to DIY, then you can try using Share This Wordpress Plugin instead.

Why didn’t the Web masters or Web developers tested the Web design with other popular Web browsers such as Firefox, Opera or Safari.

But, you know what, I have yet to encounter any problem lately with Microsoft’s owned sites using Firefox. I think I was lucky, unlike this poor guy in the video below…
